Lys is the youngest of the prime deities, a product of Tantus and Verenha. Lys was created to learn from and utilise Verenha's vast knowledge of weird energy and Tantus' mastery of the volatile elemental chaos. Lys refined their ancestors' power into the art of arcana, becoming able to control the energy of the universe, and to bend the chaos to their will.

Many of the other prime deities, and beings below them, seek to learn from Lys, or even to steal their power, but few have so much as come close. Even the most powerful magic users and arcane creatures of the material planes possess a negligible fraction of Lys' mastery.
