The Primes and the Creation
Prime deities are beings of nigh-unfathomable scale and complexity. They exist outside of the planes of existence, and lack material forms. There are 18 primes, born in three ages.
First Age
Three deities existed before all else, as complementary energies in an infinite void:
In time, Elethaor came to hold a grand vision for the nothingness: to take this lifeless, empty void and fill it with energy. Tendrils of weird energy began to creep into the void at Elethaor's will, ever shifting and assembling themselves into the fabric of the universe. While Verenha was fascinated by the weird energy, Mahacos feared it. He sought to marshal the chaos, preventing this act of creation from becoming an act of great destruction.
Second Age
The second age of the prime deities began when Elethaor and Verenha created a new being, Muana. When Muana was created, they were alone - an instrument of Elethaor's will, cast out into the chaos, where they were to be a tool of their progenitor's intent to expand the weird energy into all facets of the void.
The birth of Muana sparked the second age as the primes began to create more and more beings like Muana. Next was Tantus, born of Mahacos to aid in conducting the weird energy, to maintain order where Elethaor sought chaos. Tantus was set upon an alternate path, however; they began to breathe life, sentience and emotion into fabric of Elethaor's creation. This act introduced a great changeability and uncertainty to the universe - a bold rebellion against Mahacos' design of order - as an infinite number of souls now exacted their free will, albeit in a capacity far below that of the prime deities, on the chaos.
In the wake of Tantus' innovations, Mahacos created the third deity of the second age, Nuul. Tasked with acting as a shepherd for the souls Tantus had created, who would become lost in the chaos, Nuul created the first discrete plane of existence: a pocket of ordered energy where two tendrils of the weird energy had grown to intersect. Nuul was able to reinforce this node, creating an impenetrable boundary intended to protect the lost souls transported there.
Mahacos' third and final creation was the deity Lyberan, created as a champion of freedom. Lyberan saw Elethaor as a tyrant, whose only child, Muana, worked beneath them as a mindless servant cast out into the elemental chaos. Lyberan began to disrupt Elethaor's design, returning large swathes of the chaos to the void.
Provoked by Lyberan's rebellion, Tantus granted the gift of sentience to Muana, who expressed their new-found will and emotion by hauling many wandering tendrils of the weird energy together in a passionate rage, thereby creating a grand hub of energy where the elemental chaos of each of these hundreds of tendrils washed together in an accidental act of creation. It was in this act that the material planes were created.
After Muana's liberation, Torum was created by Elethaor to bring Lyberan to justice. Verenha aided in Torum's design in order to appease Mahacos; Torum was to stand for order and balance - qualities that the so-called Marshal of Chaos valued greatly.
Finally, Duevalar was created at the command of Verenha, who had held a great fascination in Muana's creation, though their creation was fuelled also by Elethaor's jealousy over the life that Tantus had created. Duevalar was intended to create a new form of life in the new material planes; in fulfilling this goal, Duevalar created a plethora of mortal lifeforms that have occupied the material planes across time.
The Third Age
The third age of deities began when those born in the second age began to bring forward a new generation of gods. The first of this generation was Jenefir, born of Nuul's fascination with the emotion exhibited by Tantus' creations.
Atun was created by Torum in an attempt to quell Lyberan's ongoing rebellion, to uphold the ideals of order and control against the anarchy endorsed by Lyberan.

Aspects
Prime deities, being extra-universal, cannot enter the material planes themselves. Instead, they are able to manipulate the weird energy to create manifestations of themselves, named aspects. Each deity has assumed many aspects throughout history; the way that they present themselves to occupants of the material planes is always meticulously chosen in order to best serve the deity's own motivations. The chosen form may appeal to the subjects, terrify them, or simply symbolise the aspect's qualities or virtues.
