Elysande Diéstre, known to most as High Watcher Elysande, was a member of the Order of the Great Guard, a church dedicated to The Vigilense. Elysande joined the church as an acolyte at the age of 24, after losing her home and her partner in a tragic accident. Within her first year, she earned the title of Watcher, having mastered the divine magic granted by the Vigilense.
In 1491, Elysande was dispatched to the town of Foslaw, where she was able to provide significant support in the reclamation of Shimmerswell Cave and the relighting of the Spell Forge within. After this, Elysande was named High Watcher, and sent to head the order's outpost in Lunchát.
Elysande was known to her peers and parishioners as a kind and tender person, with a deep care for the wellbeing of others. She was also known to be fiercly determined, and not afraid to get her hands dirty. While many of the Watchers of the Order of the Great Guard were talented healers and magicians, Elysande was one of few who had also mastered war magic and swordcraft.
Elysande was often seen sat in green spaces accompanied by her pet dog, a large shaggy wolfhound. Given a moment alone in such a space, Elysande could often be observed writing on parchments that she kept on her person at all times. From time to time she could also be observed praying over these parchments at sunset.
Appearance
Elysande had pale white skin dotted with freckles, and wavy red hair. In her time as a Watcher, she wore hooded red vestments punctuated with small plates of armour, which were engraved with swirling eye-shaped patterns. She wore a magpie-feather quill around her neck at all times, and could be seen clutching it in moments of stress, as if for comfort.
